PWM
(Pulse Width Modulation) Technology:
Conventional fan controllers use a resistor to slow a fan down to
only 50% of its nominal speed by reducing voltage. (fans don’t spin
under 6 volts). PWM can reduce the fan speed down to 10% by
modulating the Pulse Width and constantly supply 12 volts. This
means, less power consumption, less noise, increase of fan
longevity, and no heat generated by resistors.
